Greetings Buckley Day Camp Families,
I hope that this email finds you well. As we begin March, I find myself looking forward to the beginning of Spring. As the snows starts to melt, the grass begins to turn green again and the flowers begin to bloom my thoughts always drift towards summer and the start of our camp season.
With the first day of camp quickly approaching, I would like to update all of you on some news from around camp.
Register Now, Space is Filling Up Rapidly
Interest in Buckley Day Camp remains extremely high, and our available space is dwindling rapidly. At this moment, we are anticipating beginning to close groups much earlier this year. Please guarantee your spot for the summer by registering as soon as possible. If you are still unsure of your summer plans, just register for any two weeks and you can adjust your enrollment as we approach the summer.
New for 2022! New Human Car Wash and Pool Slides
We are happy to announce that our “Human Car Wash” spray area and our two water slides will be completely refurbished for this coming camp season! When our campers return in June, they will be greeted by the sight of two bright and shiny slides leading into Pool B and a fully functional human car wash for all of our campers to run through!
Updated Mask Rules
We continue to be encouraged by the positive trends we are seeing in our community with regard to Covid-19. While we are preparing for a more “normal” summer we will continue to prepare for several different scenarios. While the specifics of our operating plan may change between now and the start of camp I thought it appropriate to give you some brief updates.
With the recent announcement by Governor Hochul ending the mask mandate for schools, many of you have asked me about our anticipated mask rules for the coming summer. At the moment, masks will be optional at Buckley Day Camp this summer. Any child who wishes to wear a mask will be permitted to do so, except for while they are at the pool. Please note that at the moment New York State is still requiring masks on buses. Buckley Day Camp has always been a welcoming and inclusive community and we will respect and support the wishes of every child and family in this matter. If our local circumstances change before the summer we will revisit the matter.
Teens Trips Back to Twice A Week!
Building upon the success we had with teen trips last summer, we are happy to announce that we will be returning to two teen trips each week this summer. Keep an eye out for our trip calendar in the next couple of weeks!
Workshops Are Set to Return This Summer!
If the positive trends we are currently seeing in our community continue we are confident that we will be able to bring back our elective based programing (workshops) for our older campers. We are hard at work preparing an elective schedule for the coming summer and will hopefully be able to announce our slate of electives for the summer in mid-April.
Even Better Ways to Find Your Campers Photos
I heard from so many of you last summer, how much you loved using our new Buckley Day Camp app and now we are making it even better. This year we will be adding facial recognition features to our app. Every day the app will automatically save any photos in which your children appear onto a folder on your app. These features are completely optional. More details will be available closer to the summer.
