Group Leaders
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Camp Leader to oversee and engage children in a fun and safe camp environment. The Camp Leader will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that promote personal growth, teamwork, and creativity among campers. This role requires strong leadership skills, a passion for working with children, and the ability to foster a positive atmosphere that aligns with our camp’s values. This position will entitle your children to attend camp at a significant discount of our regular rate!! Camp dates 6/29/26 – 8/21/26 Hours 8:30-4:30 M-F
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, theater performances, and outdoor games.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by maintaining an active presence during activities.
- Provide guidance and support to campers, encouraging their participation and helping them build confidence.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding camper progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive camp experience.
- Act as a role model and manage a staff of 3-4 young adults and keep them motivated and engaged
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in settings such as camps, school or after school programs
- Strong background in childhood development principles is advantageous.
- Certification in first aid or CPR .
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Ability to manage groups effectively while fostering an inclusive environment for all campers.
- A passion for outdoor activities and creative play is essential.

Lifeguards
Must be American Red Cross certified and have current Nassau County Lifeguard Certification-Current CPR Certification from a Nassau County Dept. of Health recognized provider. Lifeguards spend part of their day instructing campers in the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program and part of the day guarding one of 4 outdoor pools or our pond. Aquatics staff are expected to work the 39 days of camp (Monday June 29th — Friday, August 21st (closed July 4th) from 8:30am – 4:15pm daily. The aquatic staff is also required to attend our pre camp trainings in June (aprox 4).
Responsibilities:
- Monitor pool activities to ensure the safety of all participants and enforce rules and regulations.
- Provide swimming instruction to campers of varying skill levels, adapting techniques as necessary.
- Administer first aid and CPR when required, maintaining certification and training.
- Conduct regular pool maintenance and cleaning to ensure a safe swimming environment.

Counselors
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with children in various camp activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Implement and lead educational and recreational programs that promote teamwork and personal growth.
- Provide guidance and support to campers, fostering positive relationships and addressing individual needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized camp area, ensuring all equipment is safe and functional.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a cohesive and supportive camp community

Security Guard
Responsibilities:
- Monitor camp grounds and facilities to ensure a safe and secure environment
- Control access points and check-in/check-out procedures
- Respond to incidents and emergencies calmly and professionally
- Patrol the perimeter and designated areas at regular intervals
- Communicate effectively with camp leadership and emergency personnel
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
- Strong observational and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm and act quickly in emergency situations
- Must pass a background check
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Dance Specialist
We are looking for Individuals with experience and able to teach children’s Dance to our campers. Plan and execute age appropriate dance activities. Experience teaching children/campers Dance in a day or residential camp setting is a plus.The Dance Specialist will also be eligible to have his or her children attend Buckley Day Camp at a highly discounted rate.
